Announcement of new Head Teacher

Note from Mr Burke

New Head for Westbury House School It is a pleasure to be able to inform you that ILG have appointed a new Head to lead Westbury House School from September 2019. Her name is Miss Clare King.

Having embarked upon a thorough and rigorous process to ensure we found the best candidate to lead our wonderful school we were blessed with an incredibly strong field and it was the unanimous decision of the panel to appoint Miss King. I know that this appointment places Westbury House School in the strongest possible position moving forward – building on the success secured by Mrs Holiday as well as the systems and appointments we have made since January.

It has been a privilege to lead your school since January and please rest assured I will be working closely with Miss King between now and the end of this academic year to allow a smooth transition but also to ensure she is able to appreciate what a special and unique school Westbury House is. There is much for us to achieve between now and August and now that the school’s leadership team is in place we can continue to build and look forward to even brighter times ahead for our school. I know that you will all join me in congratulating Miss King on her appointment as your new Head and look forward to her taking our school to the next level.

Note from Miss King

I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed Headmistress of Westbury House School, though I am very aware that I have some big shoes to fill following the tremendous work of Matthew Burke.

What attracts me to Westbury House is a shared vision that there is far more to the development and growth of a child than just what happens in the traditional classroom setting. Instead, a holistic educational approach encourages not only academic growth but also fosters a culture of resilience, personal development, community and interesting, well rounded individuals with something to say for themselves. I have already had the pleasure of meeting the children and, I should tell you, received a particularly gruelling interview by the undeniably impressive School Council, and now I look forward to meeting you in the coming weeks.
