Science Week 2019 was a scintillating success, at Westbury House, with so many exciting events and activities!
We started the week with a day of fun experiments with Sublime Science. The children learnt about chemical reactions, forces, sound and many other science topics. They also made their own slime! Thank you to our wonderful Sublime Science presenter, Marie-Ann for making it such an exciting and informative day for the pupils.
The next day, Year 1-6 went to Nower Wood for a very rainy but fantastically fun trip. We did pond dipping, minibeast hunting and then looked at our discoveries under microscopes to see their details and adaptations. How fascinating it was to learn about these tiny creatures.
Wednesday the 13th March was Science Fair day and the children blew us away with their incredible projects. The theme was ‘Think Green’ or ‘Eco Friendly Living’. There were some ingenious ideas on how to better look after our planet and live responsibly. After a difficult deliberation, Mr. Burke and Miss Stephens chose the winners and runners up from each year group. They received certificates, medals and trophies! A huge well done to everyone who took part.
The last item on the Science week agenda was the eagerly awaited Science Quiz! The children competed in their houses in teams of five. They were given 20 difficult questions to answer and Mary Rose ended up winning!
We all had a brilliant time during Science week! A huge amount of useful scientific knowledge was gained by both children and staff alike.
