Year 4, 5 & 6 Inter House Netball and Hockey

Friday 7th December 2018

Each House took part in some hotly contested matches on the courts at King’s College Sports Ground. They played each other House at netball and hockey. In fact the hockey was a version of the game called unihoc and is played a little like ice hockey where you can use both sides of the stick.

The weather was fine, but the courts were a little damp from the previous rainy days. This meant that the players needed to take extra care due to the slightly slippery surface. Each House Captain needed to select substitutes for each game following these rules: no-one can be a substitute for two games in a row; everyone must be a substitute; as far as possible the substitutes for each game must consist of at least one child from Yr 6, 5 and 4. This not only ensured fairness, but it made the captains use their computational thinking skills under pressure in match situations.

Big thanks to Mrs Gordon who umpired the netball and Mrs Hardy who controlled the timings, order of play and results.

Well done to each House and every player who worked hard in the games. Here are the results and points awarded:

1st VICTORY 25 HP

2nd CUTTY SARK 15 HP

3rd MARY ROSE 10 HP

4th GOLDEN HINDE 5 HP

At the end of the Spring Term we will hold the Inter House Rugby and Football competitions.
