November visit to Hampton Court Palace

On November the 22nd we had the pleasure of visiting Hampton Court Palace. Year 3 and 4 arrived safely by train.

What a fabulous time we had, discovering areas of The Palace and finding out about Henry and The Tudors. Whilst inside, we listened to our special audio units and watched 3 videos.

We were fortunate enough to be joined by Edward, who had dressed as a Victorian. He talked to us about Christmas celebrations and how Queen Victoria and Prince Albert introduced the Christmas tree from Germany and many traditions. We thought about present giving and rich and poor people. We also heard that Oliver Cromwell, when he gained power, banned Christmas for 11 years!

Lastly we made our own crowns, decorating them nicely to take home to finish.

Eventually we made our way back, having had a wonderful day.

A BIG thank you to Mrs Saunders for arranging the trip, to Leo's and Alex's mummies for helping.
