On 22nd March, the children had the pleasure of meeting Hilary and her guide dog Edie. Hilary spoke about the importance of her guide dog and how it allows her to maintain her independence. Without her guide dog, Hilary would be unable to carry out the daily things we take for granted.
Edie is Hilary's 7th guide dog. Cocoa previously visited the school 2 years ago. She retired last year and now lives with other retired guide dogs with a family. Hilary spoke about a guide dogs training and we were surprised how long it takes and how much they have to learn. This would not be possible without the charity, The guide dogs for the blind association. It was decided the donations from our end of term hair and hat day would be donated to this important charity.
